HUD to Propose Changes to Regulations for HOME Program

Wednesday, May 15, 2024 - 1:13PM

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will publish in an upcoming edition of the Federal Register a notice of proposed rulemaking to update regulations for the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME). The proposed changes would seek to expand access to community housing development organization (CHDO) set-aside funds by neighborhood-based nonprofit organizations, better align HOME rental housing with other federal rental assistance programs and establish a new method for determining maximum per-apartment subsidy limits, among other changes. Public comments are due 60 days from the date the notice is published in the Federal Register. HUD’s announcement anticipates publication in the Federal Register later this month, but the precise date was not announced today.
