2024 QLICI Awards - Real Estate - winnerAn organization with a 50-year record of playing a critical role to provide health and wellness services to the greater Washington, D.C., region was able to open a new center to triple the number of clients.

The Whitman-Walker Max Robinson Center at St. Elizabeths received $32.3 million in NMTCs to expand a new center and provide services to more than 15,000 people a year. That’s triple the number of people who could be seen at the original Max Robinson Center.

The new development includes a large pharmacy; 65 rooms for exams, consultations and procedures; eight dental suites; 12 behavioral health suites; and 24 conference and team rooms. The expansion will also allow more treatment and access to cutting-edge breakthroughs in HIV treatment and prevention and LGBTQ health care. It will also provide 100 new jobs in the community.

Whitman-Walker served as a key partner during the COVID and Mpox pandemics and its client population is primarily people of color and those under 40.

Four CDEs–Urban Research Park CDE, LLC; ESIC New Markets Partners Limited Partnership; Clearinghouse Community Development Financial Institution and USBCDE, LLC–combined to help finance the new construction of the Imperial Valley PACE and Health Care Inc. center in Imperial, California. The new facility will help close health care gaps in Imperial County by providing primary care, women’s care, pediatrics, chronic disease management, dental and more.
